Puppy Board & Train
Puppy Board & Train is designed to support puppies during a critical stage of development by building early structure, clear communication, and age-appropriate foundations. This program focuses on shaping healthy habits, confidence, and neutrality rather than rushing formal obedience. This is offered on a limited, case-by-case basis for puppies under 20 weeks of age and is tailored to the individual puppy’s needs at the time of enrollment.
Program Overview
Early experiences matter. Puppy Board & Train provides an immersive, home-based environment where puppies learn how to navigate the world with clarity and confidence.
Training focuses on creating calm routines, introducing foundational skills, and guiding puppies through early development in a way that supports both emotional and physical well-being. Expectations are intentionally age-appropriate and designed to set puppies up for long-term success rather than short-term compliance.
Foundations Covered
Puppy Board & Train may include work on
• Potty routines and daily structure
• Crate exposure and comfort (as a skill, not a requirement)
• Calm behavior and early impulse control
• Nipping and mouthiness
• Place work and settling skills
• Leash introduction and engagement
• Body handling for veterinary and grooming care
• Foundational markers and communication
Each puppy progresses at their own pace, with training adapted to their developmental stage.
Early Environmental Exposure
Thoughtful exposure to the world is a critical part of puppy development. Puppies benefit from safely experiencing new environments, sounds, surfaces, and situations during their socialization window.
Exposure is always done in a controlled and responsible manner. This may include outings using tools such as a dog stroller, wagon, or sling bag, allowing puppies to observe and experience the world without unnecessary risk. The goal is to build confidence and neutrality while protecting both physical health and emotional well-being.
When done safely and intentionally, early exposure supports healthy development and lays a strong foundation for future training.
Program Length
Puppy Board & Train is a two-week program. Because puppies develop at different rates, goals and focus areas may vary based on the puppy’s age, temperament, and progress during their stay.
Recommendations for next steps are discussed with the owner at the end of the program.
Home-Based Training Environment
Puppy Board & Train takes place in my home, not a traditional facility. Puppies are integrated into a calm, structured environment with intentional routines, appropriate rest periods, and individualized care.
Structure, predictability, and safety are prioritized to help puppies feel secure while learning and developing.
What Happens After Puppy Board & Train
On your puppy’s go home date, you’ll participate in a transition session designed to transfer routines, communication, and foundations from me to you. We’ll review what your puppy has learned and discuss how to continue supporting their development at home.
1 additional follow up private lesson is included to help guide your puppy as they move into adolescence and more advanced training.
